CANCER CARE

CANCER is a condition where cells that are not good for our bodies reproduce and grow.
CANCER cells can destroy our good cells.

The good news is that many people make full recoveries from CANCER.

The lovely
'Kylie Minogue' made a full recovery from breast cancer. She was treated with CHEMOTHERAPY and RADIATION, but also believes that drinking smoothies made from broccoli, apple, and carrot helped.

Hippocrates 'Let food be thy medicine'.

According to those in the know, CANCER can't survive in alkaline conditions.
Cooked food causes acidic conditions in the body, and certain raw foods create alkaline conditions.
A qualified naturopath or nutritional therapist would be able to enlighten you further on food therapy, and acid/ alkaline food charts are available to help you to avoid acid forming foods.

Starflower oil with its GLA can help to boost the immune system, and it is believed by some that evening primrose can help people who have CANCER. Research has shown that it can help stop cancer cells from multiplying.

The inspirational
'Louise Hay', apparently cured 'vaginal cancer' by using several self help techniques.
She has her own website, should you wish to look her up.

I'll mention again that 'medicinal CANNABIS', on a previous post, can reportedly 'kill' cancer cells, so it may be an option for you.

There are some alternative therapies that may help you on your road to recovery, or at least aid with some of the symptoms of CANCER,

THE COMMON COLD

The COMMON COLD has no known cure.
It is caused by viruses that can't be treated with antibiotics.

SIGNS and SYMPTOMS
. runny nose
.runny eyes
.blocked nose
.sore, tickly throat
.aches
.sneezing
.headache
.fatigue
.raised temperature
The symptoms may vary slightly due to the different viruses.

A COMMON COLD usually lasts, on average, for around a week.

You can help yourself to feel a bit better, while the symptoms last, in a number of ways.
Some people recommend CHICKEN SOUP. There is now some evidence on the internet that supports the theory that CHICKEN SOUP can indeed help.

Some recommend GARLIC for a COLD.

Many believe in the use of VITAMIN C. This can be obtained from certain foods, such as ORANGES and LEMONS, but there are plenty of other foodstuffs containing VITAMIN C. (Lemon is also thought to boost the immune system, which helps to fight off the COLD virus).
VITAMIN C supplements can be bought too, but don' t overdo your VITAMIN C intake as it can cause some unpleasant side effects, such as diarrhoea for one!

Some people recommend WHISKEY. They often have this with lemon mixed in boiled water in the form of a 'hot toddy'. WHISKEY is thought to be a pain killer. (I am not suggesting that children should be given whiskey, at all, for a COLD).

Mainstream medical professionals would most likely advise PARACETAMOL and REST.

As a qualified AROMATHERAPIST I would suggest using good quality PURE ESSENTIAL OIL of LAVENDER in the bath, as it is warming(if you feel cold) and soothing, and has antiseptic properties. TEA TREE OIL may also be of benefit, as may EUCALYPTUS OIL as it helps to relieve blocked nasal passages, making breathing easier.
(Always read the recommendations on the bottles, and buy from reputable suppliers).

There are a wide range of HOME REMEDIES also, that can be bought in CHEMISTS ranging from MEDICINES, SWEETS or PASTILLES to ease SORE THROATS to COUGH MEDICINES or TREATMENTS to unblock a BLOCKED nose.

Don' t forget to have plenty of tissues to hand to COUGH and SNEEZE into, and to blow your nose!
Try to catch as much as you can in your tissues, then BIN them, because the germs can spear easily to other people.

Remember to wash your hands regularly to try to minimise the spread of germs!

CANNABIS 'MEDICINAL'

CANNABIS is classified as a CLASS B drug.
If anyone is found in possession of it in the U.K they could face a prison sentence.

Despite a recent petition to try to legalise it in the U.K, the Gov. WILL NOT, for general and recreational use.
There are still concerns about how cannabis can impact on peoples lives in a negative way.
Some side effects include dizziness, anxiety, vomiting, paranoia and hallucinations.

There are people, however, who believe in the medicinal properties of CANNABIS.
It has been shown to kill cancer cells, for example.
Some people, in U.S reports, have found that CANNABIS may be beneficial for EPILEPSY sufferer's.
It has also been found to help people with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, as it can seemingly ease PAIN and SPASMS.

There is now a legalised 'medicinal' form of CANNABIS OIL that can be bought in the U.K, from a company called 'CHARLOTTE'S WEB'.

N.B Always seek the advice of your doctor, before using ANY product that you are unsure of.

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

It goes without saying that the PREVENTION of ailments and illnesses, is BETTER than having to try to CURE ailments and illnesses.

There are some steps that you can take YOURSELF, to try to prevent the onset of ailments and illnesses.
I am sure that you are already familiar with these measures, but I am just here to remind YOU.

Be mindful of what you eat...
Try not to drink in excess...
Try not to smoke... I don't know of any health benefits of smoking cigarettes at all, whereas it can be argued that an odd glass of wine, for example, can benefit the health.

Try to do something by the way of exercise on a regular basis. By this I don't mean that you have to overdo exercise, or become obsessive about exercise, or even sign up for expensive gyms!
It could just be a stroll around a park.
HIPPOCRATES apparently said 'Walking is man's best medicine'.
There are many different forms of exercise from the gentleness of yoga or tai chi to the more strenuous exercise of, say, kick boxing.
When it comes to exercise, you need to find something that suits YOU. It may not be something that all your friends are doing, but that's OK.
Try to look for ideas on the internet, if you are stuck, or seek out a fitness instructor, if you really feel you need a bit of guidance on the matter.
Remember, this is about YOUR life, and YOUR health.
GOOD LUCK!

P.S The NHS now has information on the internet regarding diet, exercise, and quitting smoking!
